What we will do...
Masks are to be worn by students and staff inside (unless otherwise exempted)
Sanitiser available in all classes
Indoor assemblies going ahead, with masks on
Windows/doors open in classrooms throughout the day (ventilation)
Parents/Visitors are required to wear masks when inside school buildings
We are doing this because...
Masks have been highly effective at preventing the spread of COVID and other viruses (masks protect others)
Student mask wearing at school has been consistent
Scientists predict this winter there will be many more viruses circulating due to two years of lockdown
In winter our healthcare systems are stretched due to winter ills. We can slow the spread of a variety of illnessesby wearing masks
Finally, wearing masks takes better care of children with chronic conditions enabling more students to be at school
Parents & whanau can...
Send your child to school with a mask
Keep your child home if they are sick and let us know
Vaccinate your child against COVID
Dress your child warmly for winter (please contact the school if you would like any support with this)
Returning to school after a period of isolation
The Ministry of Education has some helpful information on their Parents and Whānau website to support your tamariki to get back to school. There is also an important reminder about how you can take care of yourself. While this might all feel a little overwhelming at times, we know that all these measures will help our students return to school, reconnect with whānau and friends and do what they enjoy.
