This pānui is to inform you of some key events coming up in Week 8 and 9 of Term 3:
Changes to the Times-of-Day:
On Tuesday 8th and Thursday 10th of September, we are going to run our normal Tuesday and Thursday timetable, but use Wednesday times-of-day. What this essentially means is that there is no Wā Whānau on those days, and that kura (school) will finish at 2.20pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday that week. Period 1 will start at 8.45am on each of those days.
The purpose of this is to allow for kaiako (teachers) to use that extra afternoon time to do some important work around NCEA achievement. This might include marking, preparing mock examinations, running study sessions or contacting whānau about student achievement.
NCEA Assessment Week:
In Week 9, from Monday 14th September until Thursday 17th September, we will be having an NCEA Assessment Week. During this time, normal classes will not run for our Year 11 - 13 students. Classes will run as normal for our Year 9 and 10 students. A timetable and more details will be provided to students and whānau closer to the time.
Teacher Only Day:
The Ministry of Education has approved two Teacher Only Days in 2026 in order to engage with the new curriculum. Our first one of these is on Friday 18th September. Students are expected to remain home on this day.
